Cities for People

How Paris and Barcelona Learned Urban Planning from Groningen
Video from YouTube

An excellent short film on different ways cities in Europe have combated the effects of climate change and improved the liveability of their cities. Unley Voices for Climate Action recently held a community forum, “Reclaim the Streets – Imagining Alternative Transport Choices”, where we featured a section of this film (How Paris and Barcelona Learned Urban Planning from Groningen), at our event. The main focus of this film is transport and how these cities moved away from car dependency to more greener, cleaner streets that put people first rather than cars. It demonstrated what is possible for our communities if governing bodies promote active travel as an alternative mode of transport.

Our group used the findings of our community forum to put in a submission to the committee overseeing the Legislative Council Inquiry into Active and Public Transport. You may download our submission to read below.
