“I know Georgie particularly through her advocacy for trees at Highgate Park (the former Julia Farr Centre) which is to be sold soon. Georgie was enthusiastic about involving the community in a campaign to save the big trees there – most over 40 years and some over a century old – and establish a community park, based around those trees. Particularly important in Unley with its limited area of parks.
Georgie also took part in setting up and participating in a meeting with Disability SA (who are selling Highgate Park) to argue the case for retention of those trees and now continues her advocacy on this matter. Unley is noted for its liveability. We all want to retain that. I know that Georgie will be an enthusiastic councillor who will listen to her community and energetically push their issues in Council. She will have a particular focus on any policy or project which will help the community cope with climate change: the most pressing challenge to the future liveability of our community.”
